Online Indian Visa Eligible Countries

The India e-Visa eligiblity is essential before you can apply and obtain the necessary authorisation to enter India.

The India e-Visa is currently available to citizens of nearly 166 countries. This means that you do not need to apply for a regular Visa if you intend to visit for tourism, business or medical visits. You can simply apply online and obtain the necesssary entry authorisation to visit India.

Some useful points about e-Visa are:

  • Tourist e-Visa for India can be applied for 30 days, 1 year and 5 years - these allow multiple entries within a calendar year
  • Business e-Visa for India and Medical e-Visa for India are both valid for 1 year and allow multiple entries
  • e-Visa is non-extendable, non-convertible
  • International Travellers are not required to have proof of hotel booking or flight ticket. However proof of sufficient money to spend during his/her stay in India is helpful.

The eligibility criteria for selecting an E-Visa include the following:

  • The E-Visa is granted to individuals traveling to a country for purposes such as visiting friends and relatives, engaging in recreational activities, seeking medical treatment, or undertaking a short-term business visit.
  • The applicant's passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of visa application.
  • The passport should contain at least two blank pages to accommodate stamps from the Immigration Officer.
  • Applicants are required to possess return tickets, indicating their intention to return after a specified duration of stay at the destination.
  • Children and infants are mandated to obtain separate E-Visas and passports.

Applicants are advised to take note of the following crucial instructions:

  1. The traveler's passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of arrival in India, and it should have at least two blank pages for the immigration officer's stamp.
  2. The applicant must use the passport for which the e-Visa was applied when traveling. Entry into India will be permitted with the new passport if the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) has been issued on the old passport. In such instances, the traveler must also carry the old passport on which the ETA was issued.

It is advisable to apply 7 days in advance of the date of arrival especially during the peak season (October - March). Remember to account for the standard Immigration process time which is 4 business days in duration.
